Compilation Box Set featuring John Foxx...
Rob Harris
11/04/25 06:04 PM
Here's what Cherry Red Records have to say about their latest release, which includes Young Love by John Foxx... We present the fourth volume in this critically acclaimed series - this time a prequel, exploring the transitional year 1979, a period which saw electronic pop move from curio, fad and novelty status into the credible post-punk pop landscape. A story of experimental and eccentric artists, outsider aesthetics and the fusion of the spirit of punk with a pop sensibility.
Featuring an array of artists who would become household names and dominate the pop scene during the first half of the 1980s, alongside lesser-known scenesters, independent innovators and one-off scene hoppers, Musik Music Musique 1979 provides a perfect backdrop to our previous three volumes. Call it a prequel, call it back story - packed with great pop music, a twist of the weird and wonderful and plenty of floor-fillers, this is a snapshot of a vital year in the wake punk rock, when a new path suggested throughout the 1970s was finally cut, paved and explored.
Eclectic, endlessly innovative and, most importantly, enduringly listenable, Musik Music Musique 1979 is an international adventure, throwing the spotlight on those brave enough to take the first steps into the rainbow of electronic music that would come to define the 1980s.![[Linked Image from cherryred.co.uk]](https://www.cherryred.co.uk/media/catalog/product/m/u/musik_4.jpg) ![[Linked Image from cherryred.co.uk]](https://www.cherryred.co.uk/media/catalog/product/m/u/musique_3d.jpg) Release Date: 16 January 2026 Catalogue Number: CRCD3BOX203 Musik Music Musique 1979 can be ordered from Amazon [ LINK], Burning Shed [ LINK] and Cherry Red Records [ LINK]... Adam Buxton talks with British musician and artist John Foxx, about a few of the pioneers of electronic music, forming the band Ultravox!, working with legendary producers Brian Eno ( Bowie, Talking Heads, U2, Coldplay, etc.) and Conny Plank ( Kraftwerk, NEU! Cluster, Harmonia, etc.), the relationship between music and comedy, his encounters with Keith Richards and performance artist Leigh Bowery, what he and Fall frontman Mark E Smith would talk about on their drinking sessions together and how his parents didn't screw him up. ![[Linked Image from images.squarespace-cdn.com]](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e67aaf573c9a52227680bb1/5e63e5f8-fffe-4b67-a8cc-fc42b164851e/ADAM+AND+JOHN+FOXX.jpg) This fascinating interview - which was recorded on the 11th of March 2025 - can be found on Adam's website [ LINK]

Re: 45th Anniversary of In Mysterious Ways...

This is great news! It's a shame that a companion release is not (currently) being considered. "What Kind of Girl" is missing this time, so we have a full 8 "spare" songs to the main album. No-one will need me to suggest (a) the tracklisting, (b) that we re-use the "Stars on Fire" sleeve for the cover, and (c) the title, but something like this?: "Stairway" 1. This Side of Paradise 2. Magic 3. What Kind of Girl? 4, And Of The Sky 5. To Be With You 6. City of Light 7, Lumen de Lumine 8. Hiding in Plain Sight (7 inch version) and maybe add the alternate versions of "Enter The Angel" and "Shine On". I'd buy 1. Not 650, but I'd definitely buy 1!!
