Amid all the excitement about the forthcoming Metastock thing at the Roundhouse, the forthcoming release of Metatronic seems to have passed without comment.

I just wondered therefore what sort of material it might include and whether or not it might feature a few rarities or alternative mixes to encourage fans who already own John's previously released material to buy it.

Rob's email describes it thus; "As well as featuring a selection of his darker electronic tracks from the last three decades, "Metatronic" is also set to include, for the first time on DVD, the videos for "Underpass", "No-One Driving" and "He's a Liquid"."

Without wishing to speculate too much, when an album by the name of Metatronic was first mooted many years ago, it was described as "A compilation of John's best electronic pieces from 1979 to the present day, along with rare and unreleased versions."

(from the old fansite http://coleman66.tripod.com/foxx.html).

What do you reckon might be on it? Will the DVD be the same as the old VHS compilation released in the early 1990s?

It will indeed...
And I'll announce the full track-listing just as soon as it's been confirmed.

The above mentioned website lists this as being the 'latest news', when in fact it's over ten years old. This information originally appeared in conjunction with an article I put together for Issue Eighteen of Extreme Voice entitled Quietly Confident. What I actually wrote was as follows: A compiltion of some of John's best electronic pieces together with tracks and versions not previously released during the years 1979 to 1999. Final track listing TBA. The full article can be viewed here .

I can assure you that the DVD will not be the same as the Virgin Vaults video from 1989.

This would be a fantastic addition to my John Foxx collection.

Looking forward to the artwork!

Chris wink
PS Would it be the original artwork of the man with the suitcase traversing an urban landscape?
