I have quite a geeky question. What is the font used on the "Stars on fire" sleeve?

I noticed no one mentioned The Golden Section. I am looking at the album right now and the lighting on John's face is ...well, ...golden.

The black and white profile pic on the inner sleeve is great also.

That was probably the intention.

The golden section/ ratio was first discovered by the ancient Greeks and is commonly expressed in nature. Its considered a measure of beauty and scientists think the brain uses it to determine such beauty.

You can measure certain distances around the face to determine how close they are to the golden ratio. I'm sure that John, as a graphic artist, would have known this.

The Fibonacci spiral is related and you can see examples on the back of the Your Dress 12" and Stars On Fire 12" (the spiral swatches).

So its no wonder people find the covers attractive.

The glue on the edges of the inner sleeve of mine came apart in some places as I took it out, so beware.

As a 'fan' of album covers, this has led me to rethink my list of favourite John Foxx album covers. If I were to pick a top 5....

1. Neuro Video
2. The Pleasures of Electricity
3. Impossible
4. Tiny Colour Movies
5. Metamatic
My top 5 cover designs would be in order of choice:

* No One Driving. 7” Double Pack, gatefold sleeve, and that great haircut!

* The Garden. The Cream Cover Edition, with beautiful picture of John in waistcoat standing next to lilies.

* The Pleasures Of Electricity. Very atmospheric cover literally ‘suits’ the album music so well.

* Crash And Burn. Not for the Bill Brandt Eye of the artist Antoni Tapies (I think), but for the fantastic reverse side photo of the cars in the tunnel of lights.

* Dancing Like A Gun. 12” single, great composition, and typeface.

I certainly think "Crash & Burn" has one of the best booklets - really great retro-cinematic imagery in there.
