Hi Andy and welcome.

I used to love going to Goodison Park back when I was a football obsessive. The place had a unique feel and atmosphere to it as an environment, regardless of the crowd, which was as low as 16,000 when I went in the Boys From The Blackstuff early eighties. I feel if I went now though that it might feel a bit souless with the plush but bland redevelopments grounds have undergone. I see on the tv that the church is now partially obscured which is sad as it was such an unusual, characterful, feature. Back in the forementioned early eighties I remember a sign outside it that I found charming:

Liverpool for the league.
Everton for the cup.
And every day for God. smile

Actually, I've realised I omitted two-fifths of this little path to Christianity. shocked The sign read:

Liverpool for the league.
Everton for the cup.
Saturday for football.
Sunday for church.
And every day for God.

The last line makes more sense now, but though it's only twenty-five years since this could be seen outside Goodison Park, I think every line is an anachronism in the present day.
