CONTROL! I'M HERE!

Many apologies for the delay in transmissions - as some 60s beat combo once said; "It's been a hard days night, and I've been working like a dog"* So I've had no time to get on here - should be back soon though! This week hopefully...

On top of that, my mac has got moody and won't load CDs! mad so there's every chance that I can't copy them! ARRRRGH! I'm going to try and sort this out and have given myself until Thursday. Come what may - the discs will be mailed on Friday - not sure who's next on the list, but I will check and contact you.

Gazza x

*Someone told me once that this song was recorded by the "...greatest band from Liverpool - the world! Ever!" - but I can't find it on the OMD discography... wink

Control I'm Here - Nitzer Ebb.....bloody marvellous! I'd forgotten that one.

Incidentally, on one of the interviews on the travelling CDs, JF mentions Virginia Astley. I was a fan of hers in the mid to late '80s, the album 'Hope in a Darkened Heart' full of hidden treasures - anyone know if she's still going?

I don't know, but at a John gig some time back (Rob will remember which one - LA2 I think) there was a guy waiting by the stage door who was literally COVERED with badges that said 'World's no.1 Virignia Astley fan' and suchlike. I mean, he even had a hat and a bag JUST so he could get more Virginia Astley badges on...

I kid ye not. smile

It wasn't at one of John's gigs - it was a JBK (Jansen Barbieri & Karn) gig - although it was at the LA2. Crumbs - I'd almost forgotten about her 'number one fan'. eek

Anyhow, I understand that Virginia Astley's still about - she's certainly got a website ... The only album I'm (reasonably) familiar with is From Gardens Where We Feel Secure .

Mornin' All,

Only album I've got is 'Hope In A Darkened Heart' - which I only bought because Sylvian provides vocals on one track - 'Some Small Hope'. Not heard it since I bought it 20 years ago to be honest! Will give it a listen tonight.

Didn't John have some involvement with the sessions for the 'In Gardens Where We Feel Secure' album?

Soylent Green and/ or Radio Beach; I've been trying to get my hands on Virginia Astley's "Hope In A Darkened Heart" album for a long time but as it's long been deleted and was never relsed on CD in the UK I've been unable to find it.
Any chance you could do me a copy of it?

Please email me at hturbot@hotmail.com

Yup.
I think this was during his time in Belgium, while working with Les Disques du Crepuscule (FBWL). John Foxx did some production work or something on the sessions, but none of this material was used when the album was finally released.
He was a champion of her work during the early 80s.
