It may be that it wasn't practical to do a session. Remember that Metamatic was played and recorded almost entirely by John. The nature of radio sessions is that one turns up and plays without overdubs or any messing about (latterly it has been acceptable to turn up with backing tapes/files.) I suspect it simply would not have been practical to get musicians up to speed for a radio session.

Okay, I think Soylent green was the first one - so I burn a copy for him.
Soylent, please make the next copy for Mr. Ilektrik - so he could go on then...

Soylent Green, please sent me a mail with your adress - and the sessions will start the round !

I have all the 3 sessions Birdsong mentioned here but the last one is the 1985 session without Shine on - I never knew it was a four track session. eek

So Guys - hope you enjoy it!!! wink

December 1983 - Richard Skinner "Saturday Live" (Radio 1)

Hiroshima Mon Amour
The Shadow of Your Smile
(this is a cover of an old 'song' which Foxx performs to demonstrate his love of 'proper' songs - structure and form etc. It's not a version of Shine On, and as far as I know has not been performed or recorded anywhere else)
Twilight's Last Gleaming

April 1985 - Andy Batten-Foster, Radio1
Morning Glory
In Mysterious Ways
Hanging In The Air
(I don't think this was as late as November, because it took place during the sessions for the IMW album and, at the time, Hanging in The Air was being considered for the album)

June 1985 - Janice Long's "Evening Session" Radio1
Shine On
Stars On Fire
Lose All Sense Of Time
In Mysterious Ways

Corrections to the above very welcome cool
There is another session with Richard Skinner, I believe it's from earlier in 1983 but I don't know the specific date at present. Tracks as follows:

1983 - Richard Skinner "Saturday Live" (Radio 1)

Your Dress
My Wild Love
Like a Miracle

Incidentally, I have the Andy Batten-Foster interview down as June 1985...

ANDREAS - shall I send you tracks of this session to add to your CD, before you send a copy out..? That way all 4 sessions would be on one disc. laugh

I currently have them as .m4a files, but can convert to MP3 if necessary - let me know. wink

Nervous?! I do hope not! eek

Actually, I apologise - now I've looked more closely, this one isn't a live session, just an interview with album tracks sprinkled throughout. Would you still like it?

Oh and yes, I believe I've got Shine On. I'll mail back shortly when I've figured out what I've got!!

Hi Cerise & Rob, wow ain't this forum active! (1st post on the new forum and it's good to be back).

Just a quick note to say hi and, as per the quote above, that Cerise now appears to be a fully fledged Foxx convert (I vaguely remember when you weren't... admittedly it was a while ago). laugh

A bit off topic for this thread but I have recently re-discovered the music of The Passions (excellent website at www.thepassions.co.uk) having inadvertently opened up an email dialogue with their original drummer! There's a short biog on the site which reveals that their last LP, Sanctuary, was recorded at the Garden Studios!
