Apart from the copyright issues that such tracks and distribution carry, there is also the question of website bandwidth.
Both Rob and Cerise who run these sites have to pay for everything we see and touch hear out of their own pockets.
Audio tracks carry a heavy storage and download penalty in terms of how much traffic and load they put on a site. What not many people realise is that most site's ISPs restrict sites to a certain amount of traffic - normally data moved - each month. pass that limit and things get expensive.
But I'd guess that's a moot point: MP3's are copies of original recordings.
To the best of my knowledge, neither JF or Ultravox have ever sanctioned MP3's of their work.
Although it's 'accepted' that people do pass around bootlegs of gigs and what-have-you to actually store and distribute them on both this site - and Ultravox.org.uk - would probably be a bridge too far. Legally speaking.
Just a thought.
