Nick Drake – I had no time for this "twee, 'hey-nonny-nonny', English, pastoral folk stuff" until a couple of years ago when I read 'White Bicycles' by Joe Boyd and 'Nick Drake' by Patrick Humphries. Reading about and listening to Nick Drake introduced me to other artists such as John Martyn and Fairport Convention also.

Jazz is another field I've steered completely clear of, but I did hear 'Ascension' by John Coltrane last year and really enjoyed that too.
