Thank you! Much appreciated. In Tokyo we are very lucky that despite having a very large earthquake, we haven't seen any of the terrible destruction happening in the North. It is unbelievable that just a few hundred miles up the road that towns and villages have been washed away. The loss of life and the loss of whole communitites is on a scale impossible to comprehend.
There is a lot of disruption in Japan right now, transport, communications, and even food, but there is also an odd calmness. I say odd, because this morning I couldn't get on the train as it was completely packed with people (reduced number of trains running to save electricity), so "calm" seems the wrong word to use, but everything was so orderly, and everyone is just getting on with what they need to do. It will take a long time to get things back to normal, and you could also argue that things will never quite be the same again.
The warmth and support from friends and family overseas has been overwhelming. It is so comforting to know that there are people all over the world thinking of us and ready to support us.
Thanks again.
