I haven't really followed Gazza's more recent career, some of his earlier stuff still sends shivers down my spine and and I was thrilled when a decade or so back my sister rang from one of his gigs and I heard a very familiar synth line down the line. My question is, after viewing the excellent photos in the gigs forum, when did he get the large, furry animal stapled to his head???
Don't take offense Numanoids but I prefer the semi skinhead look.

Yes, his furry head! laugh Looks like a completely Newman wink
Well Katja, it's as simple as this: he had a hairtransplant!
(that's why he wore a hat sometimes in the old days; he was losing his hair rapidly)

Numan has had a full head of fantastic, floppy, furry hair since 1993, when I guess micro surgery could do a better job than the old fashioned method ever could.

In his autobiography he goes into quite gruesome detail about his first operation which he had way back in 1982! That explains why he was kinda stuck with the "Action Man" haircut or a long time.

Thanks for the explanation, didn't realise I was that out of touch. I wondered if he was visiting Bob Smiths wig designer (oooo will that upset some people?). Love you Robert!

For Dance the hat hid his thinning hairline and for I Assassin the grey man image came in handy to cover his post-op head!

If you look at the 'Warriors' 12" cover, you can see the holes that were drilled into Gary's head for the strands of hair to be put in.

The last time he had a hair-op, huge advancements had been made, so a weave was opted for.

Elton John & Shane Warne have had one done.

I think he looks really good now.
