excluding the obvious Marguerite Duras inspired one ?
I'm going for the light rock/Folky Scotsman Breath taking

(Year of the Cat Al Stewart for those who can't open it )
Easy - Kate Bush 'The Saxophone Song' from The Kick Inside

or should that be 'The Sexyphone Song :p
Also sexy and cool : DB: Sound & Vision.
When I was a teenager Lora Logic (X-Ray Spex, Essential Logic) was one of my heroes, so this could have been a difficult choice for me, but then I thought of Bowie's "Young Americans" and Roxy Music's "Song for Europe," and I still wound up settling on the Psychedelic Furs' "Sister Europe" instead. Go figure.
Oh come on, it's got to be The Working Hour by Tears For Fears! smile Not exactly heavy stuff but the atmosphere is just otherworldly.
Love Theme from Blade Runner. Dick Morrissey on sax.

She's Got Claws was a close second. Mick Karn on sax.
Gerry Rafferty's ' Baker Street ' springs to mind, although on more geeky note I have to mention Martin Cooper's saxy contribution to OMITD 's debut album with Mystereality .

We had some laughs with Madness tho didn't we?
Didn't we?
The one from Blade Runner is cool.

"Start" from Peter Gabriel 3 is also good.

Dick Morrisey also did some decent sax on some of Gary Numan's 80s stuff, although I'm not much of a fan of the Numan/sax combo.

I'm a fan of "The Wedding" and "Looking for Lester" on Bowie's Black Tie White Noise album. In fact all the sax on that is cool.

No that's when i stopped listening! Mind you it worked well on She's Got Claws as mentioned earlier.
Take the backing vocals and sax off Wariors and you'd be left with a stunning album... actually you could say the same with Berserker and The Fury.
Soft Cell used a lot of sax to great effect. I particularly like the intro to the 12" of Torch
Onnne step beyooondd!

We did D, we did! smile
Hazel O'Connor- 'Will You'
Roxy Music/Brian Ferry cover of Lennon's "Jealous Guy"........
The entire Jon Anderson/Vangelis album "The Friends of Mr. Cairo"
Lots of Dick Morrisey sax on that record.

Yes, I remember that. It's one of the b-sides to Games without Frontiers.

I remember that, too. She obviously had a bad head-cold while recording that. laugh

This is my favourite as well, but as it's already been mentioned, I'll plump for 'Rat Trap' by The Boomtown Rats, complete with Bob Geldof aping the sax with a candelabra on TOTP. wink

One of my favorites of theirs. I have to agree with this choice.

JOAN ARMATRADING LOVE AND AFFECTION A truly marvellous song

Apologies to all for reviving this moribund thread of mine
The The. 12" version of "Uncertain Smile" (has flute too) - probably in my top ten all time faves! Album version is so dull in comparison!
Jungleland - Springsteen.Clarence Clemons...PLAY

Rio - Duran Duran.Andy Hamilton...DITTO! laugh laugh
Saxophone on "Hiroshima Mon Amour. Simple but very special to me. Blade Runner soundtrack is a very close second.
