DJ/VJ set in Liverpool to feature John Foxx...

John Foxx has been invited by the man behind the new movie Awaydays to do a DJ/VJ set on Thursday the 21st of May, the night of the film's premiere in Liverpool. Kevin Sampson who adapted his own book to create the film says of early Ultravox: 'There are four Ultravox tracks in Awaydaysand I still wanted Hiroshima Mon Amour, Quiet Men and My Sex besides. It'd be absolutely true to say that from the moment I first started realising the filmic version in my head, I could only hear two sounds, two voices... John Foxx's Ultravox and Joy Division. A big part of why it has taken ten years to make the picture is that I wouldn't sell up to a Sham 69 version of Awaydays... for me, it's always been a film dressed in European Grey.'

John will be joined at the Static Gallery by VJ Karborn and Dennis Da Silva to play a fifty minute DJ set with visuals from the film cut mainly to music from 1979 - the year the story is set. This is the first time John's ever done anything like this - and although they'll be mixing and cutting up visuals and music live, this is not a gig.
