Anybody else here a fan of Zaines? If so I have given up waiting/hoping for his stuff to ever make it onto CD. If anyone can burn me copies of either/both of his albums I am sure I have much of interest to exchange.
If you do not know Zaine do a search over on You Tube.

Cheers

I borrowed one of his albums from my local library about 1982 or 83 and absolutely loved it, I think it was called 'Flowers'. It certainly had the track 'Flowers' on it, I think with Kate Bush on backing vocals. Such a shame he never made it really big, I seem to remember all the tracks were great. We'll just have to keep praying for CD's!

No market I suspect. Even people here seem not to have heard much of him!

Just for clarification, MJ, I have only lived in Johannesburg for two months, I was living in Aberdeen when I heard that Zaine Griff album! I can guarantee with almost 100% certainty that no-one here in South Africa has heard of him.

Being a POV (poverty stricken citizen) when I lived in Aberdeen I used to be very naughty and borrow LP's from the library (at a cost of 50p per album) and tape them eek . How I wish I'd kept the Zaine Griff tape now, I could have digitized it for us. Would I be right in thinking that Bowie's mime teacher and choreographer, Lindsey Kemp, had something to do with ZG? Or is that just my terrible memory?

That's right - as I understand it, Zaine was a mime student of Lindsey Kemp at the same time as a young girl called Kate Bush. 1973-75? ish

Quite correct. He has also played with both Bowie and Numan. Plenty of stuff on Youtube, which was a surprise. There were plans to release his two albums on CD a few years back but it never happened. I live in hope. Yes, pity about the tape. How did you come to live in South Africa?

On a BAE 146 from Edinburgh to Paris followed by a Boeing 777-300 ER from Paris to Johannesburg(both Air France)!

But seriously, long story short, I fell in love with a South African woman and came here to live with her. smile
