i just can't get enough of the budd/foxx release! i'm hoping there's more. especially, at the moment, "weather patterns," "coming into focus," "avenue of trees" and "underwater flowers." refreshing music. the whole look makes me think of samadhi sound.

It is a stunningly beautiful and moving collection of pieces.

Although I wasn't instantly drawn into it, it took a while to grow on me. Words can't describe the beauty and emotion in the music. It's a truly unique album.

It woud be nice if John worked on some more tracks with Harold Budd, but then again John could do a complete piano work solo. Somewhere between hes work with Harold, and the C.O. prodject.

I'm not sure I would want another album like this - I think as a 'one off' (okay, two-off!) it really stands out as something special.

But perhaps some kind of piano album from John - whether it be acoustic or electronic, would be very interesting. Actually I think something in a similar style to the "Quiet Man 3/4" tracks could work remarkably well.

An electric piano album would be nice, but i was thinking more on the lines of an accoustic one. My favourite pianist is Satie, so something in that mode from my favourite modern day artist im sure would be amazing!!

Hi Tom,

There's a Foxx collaboration with Robin Guthrie to emerge at some point, and at the Cargo gig last year, we heard an album by Foxx and Steve Jansen - which, for a reference point - reminded me of the 'Plight & Premonition' album by Jansen's brother - David Sylvian and Holger Czukay.

There's no specific release date at the moment - but as usual I'll post full details just as soon as they've been confirmed...

Since experiencing John's Quiet Man performance last week, I've ben listening to Translucence pretty much non-stop. It seems to make much more sense now... just like the use of the music during John's narrative on The Hidden Man.

Anyway I'm now curious to know more about the making of Translucence and Drift Music... when did John and Harold first start writing the music? Did they record in any unusual locations? All those kind of questions. Why did they choose to collaborate? Why this particular style etc....

Anyone?

Thanks for reminding me about this Alex! wink

So, any luck finding the artwork Rob? smile

Yes, would be nice to know some informations about these albums. I listen to them from time to time and I love them more than I did as they were released. This has certainly to do with I begin to prefer John's quiet music. Perhaps I'm old now... laugh eek

Translucence works perfect for a Sunday morning breakfast.
It would be interesting to see a gig John is performing only piano music. Would be a break to the other shows - but I would be there if he would do that.

Looking forward to the Robin Guthrie collaboration...

Me too. I'm curious to know if the Guthrie (and indeed Jansen) collaborations will be vocal or instrumental albums...

If it sounds similar to what Robin Guthrie did together with Harold Budd in Brighton 2005 - I think it will be a wonderful album.

Same for Steve Jansen. Two great musicians - we can all be curios of which music they done together with John. I'm sure it will be fantastic!
