Samadhi Sound (
www.samadhisound.com) which is David Sylvian's label, is announcing a forthcoming HB download called 'Perhaps'. Details (such that they are) are available on the Samadhi Sound homepage.
In case anyone is following this, "Perhaps" is now at the site for download, with artwork and credits. Sounds interesting. I haven't heard it yet so cannot tell whether it actually sounds interesting or not.
I have.
It is.
Sounds exactly like Harold Budd - beautiful as always.
A 'must have' for fans etc, etc
Glad I noticed the new posts. I hadn't heard of this album until reading about it here half an hour ago, and now I'm listening to it. Not bad at all.
'Perhaps' is beautiful. It's an improvised live recording dedicated to the memory of his friend Jim Tenney who he taught with at Cal Arts.
There's moments when the audience cough that make it sound like an intrusion on Budd's memories or private grief for his friend - so sparse and beautiful is the work here.
I have heard it now. The odd cough and squeak are useful to remind us this is a live recording, albeit then edited. In general I prefer a touch of backing to the piano but Harold can come round and play my keyboard all night if he wants to.
