I don't know if this is correct so I'm taking this with a pinch of salt.

I know Midge and Rusty recently distanced themselves from the new Visage on Twitter.

Rusty Egan just posted this update on EV:-

http://www.ultravox.org.uk/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=110526

"Robin Simon was invited to join Chris Payne and Rusty Egan in the writing of songs for the new Visage Album with Producer Brian Tench as Midge, Billy and Dave Formula were all busy . Steve Strange signed and agreement to sing on the album and repay the money he had take from John McGeoch, Dave Formula and Rusty Egan . Midge offerd a song become to Rusty to help him get back the loss as he was discusted that Steve Strange had done this......Rusty introduced a record company and began writing... the record company said they did not need Brian Tench or the songs as they had people who would make the music and that if we just let them make an album it would be good timing after the Ultravox Album . Rusty , Chris and Brian said off you go.... make your own record and call it Steve Strange as its obviously NOT VISAGE in any way........end of.... Robin Simon looks like he is wondering if he should have stayed.... Rusty has bow been joined by Rrussell Bell from Dramtis and is continuing to finish the songs . one is up on soundcloud as a teaser work in progress...https://soundcloud.com/rusty-egan/welcome-to-the-dancefloor .. In the meantime SS thinks he is VISAGE and without songs or musicians of the caliber of Midge, Billy, Chris Payne, and song writers we are dreading his offering ......"

Except that this has been the album that has entranced me all year long. By far and away my favorite of 2013. I think it's miles better for not having Midge Ure any where near it. I was prepared for the worst but it's my favorite Visage album against all odds. Everyone involved did a bang-up job. Kudos to Egan for getting Simon involved, but his backbiting has been disappointing. I don't doubt that Steve burned a lot of bridges, but I'm only judging him on the results, which I think are stunning. From songwriting to playing and production, this album shows significant growth from the shallow club band of the past. And it still sounds great!

Actually I've only just listened to it on Spotify and it's not a bad album.

Some great Robin Simon guitar playing.

Some tracks remind me of early 80s Duran Duran in places.

It's debatable if you could call it a Visage album though.

It's just different.

That it evidences change is one of the things I really appreciate about it. It sounds like something Visage might have recorded in 1979/80 as far as the music and arrangements go, but the themes and emotional content reflect the present of the participants. I think it would have been ludicrous if the record had been the same kinds of songs that were on "Visage" or "The Anvil." I find this album to be the quintessential example of a group making a "classic sounding album that reflects the here and now" - something many attempt to do, but I've never heard it done this successfully before.
