It's not available for pre-order yet, not even via Real World.

I believe the tracklisting / extra content is still being finalised.

Oh it's one of those again.

Is September realistic?

The timing of PG suff coming out seems to be done in it's own space time continuum.

- I think it's £15 for all 6 which is not bad if anyone is looking to catch up on what is - imho - his best work

Those probably are the pivotal Oldfield albums; certainly the first 'phase' of his music before going all 80s and lyrical.

It's no surprise to hear (though not yet officially) that Peter Gabriel's anniversary package of So has been pushed back by a month.

Sigh.

I love this band, I absolutely love this band. I cannot see a reason why this exists. If anyone needed an introduction, A Secret Wish would do. I love this band, I absolutely love this band! Do we really need more Propaganda remixes! Argh! Nice to see that 1234 has been written out of history though.

There’s also a CD of the 7”s too.

Roxy Music: The Complete Studio Recordings 1972-1982

According to the blurb: includes each of the eight ‘Roxy Music’ Studio albums: Roxy Music, For Your Pleasure, Stranded, Country Life, Siren, Manifesto, Flesh And Blood and Avalon. Each of the studio albums have been taken back to their original form. New 2012 flat transfers from the original analogue master tapes ensure the audio sounds truer to its original LP sound.
The box set is completed with two bonus discs of singles, B-sides and alternative mixes. Featuring non album singles: “Virginia Plain” (plus B-side “The Numberer”) and number one single “Jealous Guy” (originally written and recorded by John Lennon and covered by Roxy Music in 1981 as a tribute to John Lennon, following his death in 1980) and packed with tracks never available on CD before including: “Do The Strand” (USA 7” Mix), “The Thrill Of It All” (Edit), “The Thrill Of It All” (USA Single 7” Mix), “Love Is The Drug” (USA 7” Single Mix), “Both Ends Burning” (7” Mix), “For Your Pleasure” (Live), “Oh Yeah” (7” Version), “To Turn On You” (1981 B-Side to Jealous Guy), “Avalon” (7” Single Version), “Take A Chance With Me” (7” Single Version), “Take A Chance With Me” (USA 7” Mix), “The Main Thing” (Remix).

At long last the (vastly disappointing) details for the So 25 box sets have been revealed over on petergabriel.com...

-----
Deluxe box set
Contents of the box include:

The re-mastered ‘So’ album [CD].

So DNA [CD] - A unique insight into the writing and recording of So, experienced via a track by track evolutionary process leading you from the early moments when rhythms, melodies and lyrical ideas were discovered through the various stages of song development and recording.
Live in Athens 1987’ [DVD] - Directed by Michael Chapman, Executive Producer Martin Scorsese. This was the first filmed Peter Gabriel concert, now fully restored and pieced together from over 150 reels of original 35mm negatives and remixed in 5.1, this concert is made available for the first time on DVD.

So: Classic Album’ [DVD] - This documentary tells the story behind the making of 'So' and features contributions from many of those involved in the album and videos, with interviews with Peter, co-producer Daniel Lanois and many more.

An 180grm So LP [Vinyl] - The vinyl has been mastered at half speed to maximize the audio quality & the track listing, unlike the original, is that favoured by the artist.

Double A side 12" [Vinyl] - Contains two previously unreleased tracks ‘Courage’ and ‘Sagrada’ plus Don’t Give Up (alternative version piano and bvox mix).

A 60 page case bound book - Includes an introduction and So DNA summary by Peter, new liner notes and an extensive collection of rare and never before seen photographs.

Well, after such a prolonged period of great anticipation, my enthusiasm has just gone down like a bad soufflé.

It's a huge disappointment that the 2 unreleased tracks (Gabriel gold dust for sure) are only available on the VINYL in the super deluxe set. For those of us who do not even have record players, this is a huge let down.

All the sought-after b-sides, which have been unavailable on CD for years are nowhere to be seen (Walk Through the Fire, Curtains, Don't Break This Rhythm, No More Aparthaid, Across the River etc)

The live DVD - formerly POV - which probabaly every hardcore PG fan has been after for years, is only available in the super deluxe version.

The deluxe package does look superb, the new documentaries and "DNA" material being superb additions. And the booklet looks stunning - all for £80, which isn't bad at all. But the content of the 3 versions feels unbalanced - so much left out.

Disappointing, frustrating and ultimately confusing. The x1 and x3 discs are so light in content compared to the box, that they hardly seem worth bothering with.

Really mixed feelings about this. Sometimes artists really should listen to their fans... they're the ones who're going to fork out for this stuff!
