Shout it out proud RB! grin

I know you're a fan of DATA and playing 'Elegant Machinery' the other day, it came to me that if Abba had released another album and carried on going in the direction that The Visitors pointed to, and clubbed it up a bit, then it would have sounded rather like 'Elegant Machinery' cool

In fact, with songs such as 'The Visitors', 'Under Attack', 'Head Over Heels', and 'I Am The City', Abba should get a mention in the Forgotten Synth Bands thread. smile

Abba's use of synths dates way back to 1974 when they used a Minimoog on SOS.

They were usually always in there buried in the mix.

One of my later favourites was the day before you came.Yes they are one of the unknown forgotten synthbands smile

Cheers lads! smile

And yes Trees, blimey - what a thought; that ABBA could've gone in a more electronic direction - the song The Visitors hinted at so much possibility.

I saw that in Rough Trade East last Saturday. Nasty looking box, sadly couldn't see the actual contents as it was sealed. Strange that it ends with The Top when a more reasonable end would of been Head On The Door.

I'm happy for you lads , but at the risk of being like the little boy pointing at the naked King the initial magic of listening to the above on vinyl will never be surpassed ! NO tarting up will enhance them for me at least

Having said which Membs if you want to burn me jarg copies of The Minds boxset , you know my address !

Well said, Il Basso, but even "putting on a CD" is akin to playing vinyl these days, ie. "for Dads"!

Will willingly oblige with Minds if, as and when.

A new Simple Minds retrospective is due to be released later this month. Entitled X5 it features all five of the band's albums over six discs - with Sons and Fascination and Sister Feelings Call as separate discs in a gatefold sleeve – as well as bonus material on each disc including rare and previously unavailable B-sides and remixes.

And, best of all, it's only £12.99 on pre-order on Amazon. laugh

The second Pet Shops Boys B side collection entitled "Formet" came out this week, covering the B sides from 1996 to 2009.

Seems to be gaining some positive reviews.
