Hi All

I've got some rather exciting news to share..

My Spectral partner, Tessa entered some of our work in to the Tate Staff Shorts event a few weeks ago. It is an event for Tate staff only, where their film shorts (if selected) will be shown at the Starr Auditorium at the Tate Modern.

Well, yesterday we heard that 2 of our pieces 'Robot Monster Mash-up' and 'The Drowned World' have been selected, and are being screened (BIG screened!) next week.

Unfortunately, this is a Tate Staff only event, so the general public won't be able to attend, but we are so delighted to have even been selected, as there has been a huge response from entrants from all the Tate sites.

Very exciting...

Best wishes

That is AMAZING!! Fantastic news, well done! It might be staff only, but that is just the sort of thing you need to start going places. Who knows who will see it.

Sarah, this doesn't surprise me at all that 'Robot Monster Mash-Up' & 'The Drowned World' have been chosen. They are quite simply, superbly done.

I'm very pleased for you & Tessa.

Congratulations Sarah and Tessa. You both deserve recognition for your work. The music and films for Robit Monster Mash Up and Drowned World are superbly made and go "hand in hand" together.

Hi Maryann

The Tate are art galleries/museums - showing exhibitions etc. There's the Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives.

Hope that makes things clearer for you!

Thanks for your congrats!

Well, I did approach my local gallery, but got no response. Maybe I should give them another go.

Thanks!

Impressive, Sarah.
Saying 'Congratulations' seems a bit understated now.
Quite an achievement to have your work displayed there.

Thanks again.

I'm really delighted that I can actually go to this screening. At first I didn't think that I would be allowed due to the fact that it's for Tate Staff only (Tessa is a staff member), but I have secured a place on a very small guest list and I can't believe that I'll be seeing 2 of our films on the big screen! Exciting, but I'm nervous about the music sounding ok! laugh

You've got nothing to worry about. Enjoy the occassion and I hope you have many more chances to show off the work you and Tessa are doing as Spectral Response. I can't think of anywhere better than the Tate.

Sarah, that is absolutely fabulous news.

I'm very impressed and, must admit, just a tad envious. I've checked your work on occasions before and it is good, but I'll go check again soon.

You must be thrilled. A couple of glasses of champagne before the showing should calm your nerves a bit. Enjoy!

Hi All

Just to let you know that the Tate was fantastic. Unfortunately, due to some technical problems, they were unable to show 'Robot Monster Mash-up', which we were very disappointed about, but 'The Drowned World' looked and sounded fantastic on the big screen!

Thanks for your support!

Thanks!

A public view would be great!

Hey, we'll have to organise a Metamatic Private View of Spectral Response Films somewhere, where all the Forum members can come and huddle around a laptop and watch the vids! LOL! laugh

Budget doesn't stretch to big screen views at the moment! laugh

You can all come around my house and watch it on my big tele LOL or I'm sure we could have a whip round to hire a cinema.

Seriously though I know you were disappointed when you found out that Robot Monster Mash Up couldn't be shown.

Having both films shown would of shown those present at the Tate just how diverse your music and Tessa's films are. I know that you'll be get another chance in the not so distance future.

Hi Sarah,

Glad you had a good time, even if ‘Robot Monster Mash-up’ didn’t work out it must have been really something to see your work up there! Very jealous! Well done!

Sarah, 'Robot Monster Mash-Up' not being show is better than technological problems occuring as the film is playing!

Next time will be the best time.

Congratulations! 'The Drowned World' did you both proud.

Well done Sarah & co,

It must have been very exciting to hear and see your stuff like. However I'm not at all surprised that the work was selected.

What's next?

Hopefully next time your Spectral Response films and music are shown, the screening will be made available to a wider audience. I for sure would come along.
