Hello everyone Great weekend My Australian cousin and her bloke were over and daughter's birthday (Once again many thanks for best wishes in the other thread) Anyway they were heading for Paris so I went with them as far as Turin I'd forgotten how beautiful it was (I used to work there)
I had an hour or so to kill , so went for a walk round the fountain squares and Colonades Much to my surprise Fnac was open I darted in and made a beeline for the record section and the letter F Managed to find From Trash which is now sitting proudly alongside TPOE and Crash and Burn But even better I now own a double CD called "SIDEWAYS" I'm embarassed to admit I knew nothing of its existence I've just checked discography and I can't find it Two possibilities I need to visit an optician,s pronto or Robin has made a glaring ommission (I suspect it's the first)
Anyway I'm about to listen to it The second disc is an interview with JF In which he talks about the making of "From Trash"
I am trying to imagine it now
"Tha knors , it were reet gradely mekking yon record wi' young Mr Gordon ..." smile smile smile
I'll be back later for a full report

Hi Ivan .. never been to Turin meself so look forward to invite (I jest, sort of..).
Anyway enjoy Sideways .. I first 'discovered' it at the local 'gig' in April .. and I liked the idea so much .. I got it autographed (ahem)!!!!
But seriously I think I've played it more than From Trash to be honest, ...just luurve Underwater and Sailing on..

I'm always a bit wary of interview discs tho . .I reckon once you've heard em once, max twice, they're a bit boring...

I agree with you MemberD. I tend to listen to interview disc's once. Although I enjoy them I much prefer music.

I'm glad Ivan that you found Sideways. Some really good songs on there from John and Louis and I play it more as well.

I agree. One listen is all for me regarding interviews. It is like a magazine interview: Read it once and save it.

I'm the same with films actually .. I rarely watch the same one twice.
Whereas a theatre play is something else.., but I digress.

The main reason an interview cd can only be played a few times is that theres not so much of an emotional benifit from it as playing a music cd. Plus, as its stating information, once its known theres not much left in hearing it again. It would be nice to hear at least one from Billy, Midge, and Louis etc.

Separate! If the personality clash of Billy and Midge are to be believed it would have to be anyway.
After all this time since ultravox broke up i just think it would be good to hear a separate account from evryone, and from Louis on how he got to work with John and what its like to do so.

Yes i know theres Midge's book, but im thinking in terms of everyone having their say from how things stand currently, just as John's interview is. Okay interview cds dont get played often, but Johns one still gives a brilliant insight into hes career.
