As the 'what music are you listening to thread' is getting longer, I thought I'd start a revolutionary splinter group. wink

This thread is dedicated to new names that we are listening to.
We all know what we like and that's fair enough, but I'm always on the look out for new bands to champion and spend so long at local venues watching live bands that it drives my wife mad!

So, i thought we could post up either NEW bands, or artists we are perhaps listening to for the first time maybe as a result of someone's posting in t'other thread.
Its great there - thanks everyone for suggesting so much new stuff to listen to!

So, as I have mentioned before, here's a couple of new artists I am listening to this year (and before you ask, yes I do have a vested interest in each of them wink
And why not

http://www.myspace.com/thenationalparks
(Fad Gadget/Joy Division/The Wedding present)

http://www.myspace,com/corinnelucy
(Nick Drake/Kate Bush/Eva Cassidy)

http://www.myspace.com/theyoungbrothers
(Pink Floyd/Springsteen/Jack Johnson)

And one more 'established' act I have just found that I believe is seriously good (in a Scott Walker/Marc Almond/Anthony and the Johnsons kind of way)

Her album "Little Windows" is worth checking out

Great sound - and I was excited until she started to sing. frown
Very ZTT I thought, echoes of Propaganda.

Thanks for these links. I 'm always exploring.

Its very rejuvenating having young adults in the family and their mates holding a festival of sorts up in the attic bedroom.
My eldest daughter has just introduced me to the delights of the wonderful Deerhoof

Makes Felt Mountain sound quite ordinary...

And earlier this week I was reminded of just how good the two albums by Dutch band "Zea" are.
Check out "Insert Parallel Universe" and the quite ridiculously inspiring "Today i Forgot to Complain" if you need cheering up

I love titles and fun in music. Imaginef The Buzzcocks meets They Might Be Giants, remixed by Felix Da Housecat
